Who I am
My name is Yu Wang (王瑜), and I currently work as a bioinformatics scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific. I completed my bachelor's degree in biology at Wuhan University and pursued my PhD in cancer genomics at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (BIG-CAS). During my PhD, I had the privilege of being mentored by Dr. Chung-I Wu, a renowned evolutionary biologist.
Before joining Thermo Fisher Scientific, I had the opportunity to study at prominent institutions such as BGI-Shenzhen under the guidance of Dr. Guojie Zhang and also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the labs of Dr. Santhi Ganesh and Dr. Jun Li in the Department of Human Genetics/Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading books on history and politics, watching TV shows, and traveling with my family. Lastly, as a fan, I support both the University of Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!) and the GT Yellow Jackets (Go Jackets!).
